National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme was started to establish a meaningful linkage between the campus and the community. Therefore, student youth, teachers and the community are considered the three basic components of the National Service Scheme. The overall aim of National Service Scheme is to give an extension dimension to the higher education system and orient the student youth to community service while they are studying in educational institution.Therefore it is necessary to arouse the social conscience of the students, and to provide them an opportunity to work with the people in the villages and slums.

Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.

Develop a sense of social and civic responsibility.

Utilize the knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.

Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.

Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.

Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.

Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disaster.

To strive for rearing standard and stature of the students by practicing high standards of professional ethics , transparency and accountability.

To provide facilities and services to meet the challenges of Industry and Society.

To facilitate socially responsive research, innovation and entrepreneurship.

To ascertain holistic development of the students and staff members by inculcating knowledge and profession as work practices.

The motto or watchword of the National Service Scheme is : ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other person’s point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society on the whole. Therefore, it should be the aim of the NSS to demonstrate this motto in its day-to-day programme.

The TGPCET-NSS Unit has been started during the academic session 2007-08 with the motivation of Hon. Dr. Bhau Daydar ( NSS Program Officer, RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur). Since 09 years the unit is come up with one of the most active unit in the region of RTM Nagpur University. The Unit is regularly conducting the special camp of NSS along with routine activity of NSS like Blood Donation Camp, Gram Swachata Abhiyan, Free Eye Checkup Camp, Free Medical Camp, Health checkup Camp, Meditation Program, etc. In the academic year 2013-14 with the support of Dr. Bhau Daydar and right motivation of Dr. G.K. Awari TGPCET-NSS Unit strength is increased from 50 to 100. This year will be treated as one of the milestone in the history of TGPCET-NSS Unit. During the academic session 2015-16 several activities has been conducted by the unit. The activities held in this academic session are as follows:

1. Blood Donation Camp twice in a year
2. Celebration of NSS Foundation day
3. Celebration of Gandhi Jayanti day
4. Celebration of National Youth Week
5. Celebration of Self Defence for Women
